If you are looking for a new browser, Vivaldi might be the one for you. The free cross-platform browser is developed by Vivaldi Technologies and is based on Chromium.

As of September last year, it had over 2.3 million active users. Featuring a minimalist user interface combined with a dynamic color scheme, users can easily customize the look according to their preferences.

Moreover, it also comes with a built-in ad blocker solution, which saves time searching for an extension. Inspired by Opera, the browser has a “speed dial” page that can be used to quickly access the website.

Another useful feature includes the ability to install and use Firefox and Chrome extensions. That said, the developers recently released the 5.2 update which fixes existing bugs and introduces new features.

But soon after updating Vivaldi 5.2 user started complaining (1.2,3) that the browser crashes or closes. While some say the app only crashes when trying to use the new Reading List features, others say the issue affects them even while browsing.

Very simple, I can’t do anything with my vivaldi at the moment because it won’t open, the only thing working at the moment are the private windows, but the settings don’t seem to work even in private mode. Yesterday my browser was working fine, but today it decided not to work anymore. So far I’ve tried: restarting my pc, manually updating vivaldi in case that might fix the problem, using private mode to access settings (but doesn’t work as said before).

Hello, The problem you describe has nothing to do with Spotify, I have the same problem of abrupt closing of the browser on certain pages and on forms (search, username or password…) which appeared suddenly since Update 5.2.2623.24 on April 07, 2022. This is a major bug that needs to be fixed ASAP!

Luckily, Vivaldi developers acknowledged the crashing issue after the 5.2 update and said it will be fixed in the next version. However, they did not share any ETA on the release date of the patch.
