Starting today, Maple Browser is available to all users, with over 300 ready-to-install plans that have been created by industry leaders and homes across North America. More importantly, the more than 40,000 households currently using Maple can publish and share plans directly to the Maple browser so another household can start using it. This makes maple the first one company to enable home caregivers to participate in the creator economy, monetizing their knowledge and time by allowing them to share plans at a fixed price.
“You can’t manage what you don’t measure as they say. You can’t value what you can’t see. This market values the invisible,” said Eve Rodsky, author of Fair Play.
Maple is a B2H pioneer – home-based business – bringing world-class collaborative software to homes, with a focus on improving the efficiency and equality of unpaid management and planning work for the family. Michael Perry and Mike Taylor, both serial entrepreneurs and former Shopify executives, founded Maple in August 2020. Shortly after Perry became a father, he saw the unbroken opportunity to use technology for a more fair and collaborative at home. Similar to the tools people use to run a business, Maple applies the same principle to the family, creating a platform that eases the burden on parents. Maple makes it easier for parents to collaborate asynchronously and evenly distribute work. To date, Maple has raised over US$5 million from leading seed funds like Inspired Capital, G9 Ventures, Able Partners and Goodwater Capital.
Today’s launch of Maple Browser marks an important and innovative step towards realizing Maple’s mission.
Central to the Maple user experience is the ability for parents to create Plans, a single multifunctional place to organize and strategize for family needs such as weekly meals, chores, school schedules, holiday itineraries, etc. The Maple Browser uses these maps by allowing anyone in the Maple community to publish a map to a shared browser that can then be discovered, downloaded, used, and customized by another person or family using the application. This creates a shared resource for parents. participatory knowledge. For too long, parents have been left behind when it comes to economic agency. Finally, parents can be paid for traditionally unpaid work.
“Having our first child was a wake-up call for me. Unpaid work often falls on the primary caregiver, and we find that households are basically operating on the 80/20 principle. Parents, and mum in particular, are expected to maintain a career and run a seamless back office when it comes to their family, without any tools suited to the task. Maple has changed that by creating technology specifically for the family unit,” said Michael Perry, CEO and co-founder of Maple “Now, with Maple Browser, parents can reclaim invaluable time with their family that would otherwise have been spent creating repetitive lists or researching information on the Internet. That’s the news. way for parents to tap into the knowledge of caregivers across North America, and eventually the world.
The Maple Browser allows publishing of plans created with the application’s current suite of tools, which includes:
- Collaborative notes: Maple Notes lets you gather information in a shared space. Save family recipes, create planning guides, or provide directions for an upcoming trip.
- Organized to-do lists: Get things done as a team. Create shared to-do lists, delegate tasks, or see what’s up for grabs. Maple keeps everyone informed as things are completed.
- Family cat: Improve the way your family communicates. Keep everyone up to date with focused family discussions inside each plan.
- Shared calendar: Gather all your family events in one place. Coordinate schedules, track kids’ activities, create new events, and keep everyone on the same page.
