Your browser may not update if it does not access the Internet properly. To confirm it, you can use your Chrome browser or any other browser and open a free internet speed tester. Run the tool to get the bandwidth. If it is low, run the same tool on another device connected to the same network. Google Update service is usually enabled on your computer, but since Chrome is not updating, we should use many services and see if the problem persists.
To do the same, run Services and seek Google update service, there are two services:
- update – Automatic delayed start
- gupdatem – Manual
Right-click them and select Properties, then set their startup type as shown above:
If they are stopped, you need to set the Start button.

If you’ve configured a third-party antivirus, it may prevent Chrome from getting its updates. That’s why you need to disable third-party antivirus or firewall and try to update Chrome. Once the app is updated, go back and enable the security program.
Although this cause is usually seen on computers with third-party antivirus installed, we cannot say that Windows Defender can never interfere with Chrome. To confirm, you can temporarily disable Windows Defender and try updating Chrome.
7]Reinstall Chrome
If nothing works, you can always uninstall Chrome and install its latest version. However, this is not a solution, rather it is a workaround.
